At least two things are sure to happen during Thursday’s NBA draft: Victor Wembanyama will be selected first overall and there will be plenty of trades, perhaps a couple among the top 10 picks. The Detroit Pistons could move the fifth overall selection if general manager Troy Weaver feels he can get a veteran player who can help a young core of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren. A team that finished with the worst record in the league (17-65) could use immediate help rather than another building block. If the Pistons keep the pick, they’re likely to take a wing player to add to a roster that has enough guards and big men. Several wings are projected to be selected in that range.
